Our services

What we help with

Some people arrive with a diagnosis that is a week old. Some have had one for years and are tired of guessing. Either way you get a clinician, not a printout.

Prediabetes & Diabetes Nutrition Care

How food, activity and your own blood sugar readings fit together, worked through with dietitians who hold the advanced diabetes credentials.

  • Prediabetes
  • Type 1
  • Type 2
  • Gestational
  • Insulin pumps & CGMs
  • Diabetes with disordered eating

Eating Disorders & Disordered Eating

Unhurried, trauma-informed and weight-inclusive work on your relationship with food, alongside your therapist and doctor rather than instead of them.

  • Binge eating disorder
  • Bulimia nervosa
  • Anorexia nervosa
  • ARFID
  • General disordered eating

Weight Management

A plan built around your schedule, your budget and food you actually like. Not a meal plan you have to white-knuckle.

  • Habit based
  • Weight inclusive

This service is not intended for active eating disorder treatment. Patients with eating disorders receive specialized, weight-inclusive care.

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Nutrition

Sodium, potassium, phosphorus and protein are a lot to track at once. We turn your lab numbers into a shopping list you can actually use.

  • Non-dialysis CKD
  • 25+ years of renal experience on the team

Heart Disease & Heart-Healthy Eating

Cholesterol and blood pressure targets, translated into meals you can cook on a weeknight without a special trip to the store.

  • Cholesterol
  • Blood pressure
  • Heart failure

Family Nutrition

Picky eaters, growing kids and meals that work for the whole house, instead of one person eating off a separate plate.

  • Pediatric growth & feeding
  • Whole household

Our approach

If dieting went badly for you before, you are not alone, and you are still welcome here.

Plenty of people put off seeing a dietitian because the last plan came with pressure, a printout and a number to hit. That is not how this works. You get a full hour, a clinician who reads your labs and your schedule, and a plan built around the food you already like.

  • Evidence based
  • Judgment free
  • Trauma informed
  • Weight inclusive

Why the credentials matter

The letters after their names are not decoration

Diabetes care is where this practice runs deepest. Here is exactly what each one of these credentials takes to earn, and what it means for the hour you spend with us.

RD

Registered Dietitian

A clinical credential, not a job title. It takes a nutrition degree, a supervised practice program, a national exam and ongoing education to keep. In most states anyone at all can call themselves a nutritionist. Nobody can call themselves an RD.

CDCES

Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist

A national certification built specifically around diabetes. It takes documented clinical hours actually treating and teaching people with diabetes, plus an exam. Two of the dietitians here hold it, one of them for more than twenty years.

BC-ADM

Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management

The advanced practice credential in diabetes care, on top of the clinical license. It takes a graduate degree and documented advanced practice hours. Anny Ha holds it, alongside her CDCES.

Credentials are checkable. Ask any dietitian you are considering which of these they hold, and ask us the same question.

How our nutrition care works

Three steps, and the first two are free

  1. 1

A free 15 minute discovery call

No pressure and no jargon. We talk through what is going on, what you are hoping for, and match you with the dietitian who fits it best.

  2. 2

    We verify your insurance

Our team contacts your insurer directly and comes back to you with your coverage, your copay and any out of pocket cost, before you commit to anything.

  3. 3

    Your first visit, 60 minutes

A full hour with your dietitian, in person or by telehealth. Follow-ups run 30 to 60 minutes, usually every one to three weeks at first, then further apart.

Payment and insurance

Your insurance may already cover this

Most major health plans cover visits with a Registered Dietitian. A lot of people never find that out. We check your plan for you, before you book.

In network with most major plans

  • Medicare
  • Medicare Advantage (commercial)
  • Cigna
  • Aetna
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Medical Mutual

How the check works

You give us your plan details on the first call. Our team contacts your insurer directly and comes back to you with what is covered, your copay and anything you would owe. You decide after that, not before.

If you are paying yourself

Cash, check, credit and debit cards, and HSA or FSA cards. If a dietitian is out of network for your plan, payment is due at the time of service. Call the office and we will tell you the self pay rate.

FAQ

The questions people ask first

Do you accept insurance for nutrition counseling?

Yes. We are in network with most major plans, including Medicare, commercial Medicare Advantage, Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Highmark, UnitedHealthcare and Medical Mutual. Most major plans cover visits with a registered dietitian, and a lot of people never find that out.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Usually not, to book with us. Some insurance plans do require one for coverage. We check that for you when we verify your benefits, so you find out before the visit and not after it.

How does the insurance check work?

You give us your plan details, our administrative team contacts your insurer directly, and we come back to you with what is covered and what you would owe. You decide after that, not before.

Is nutrition counseling only for weight loss?

No, not at all. If you have kept away from nutrition counseling because of how dieting or pressure went for you before, you are not alone, and you are welcome here. Our approach is evidence based, judgment free and trauma informed.

What happens at the first appointment?

Your first visit is a full 60 minutes. Your dietitian reads your history, your labs and your routine, and builds the plan with you. Follow-ups run 30 to 60 minutes, usually every one to three weeks at first.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes, over a secure video link, for clients in Pennsylvania, Ohio and thirteen other states. Licensing rules change, so call us to confirm your state before you schedule.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, check, credit and debit cards, and HSA or FSA cards. If a dietitian is out of network for your plan, payment is due at the time of service. Call the office for self pay rates.
